Financial Obligations

Fiscal-Responsibility

ALL members of Lambda Chi Alpha swear an oath of accountability. As such, each and every member is expected to pay any dues or fines assessed in a timely manner. By trying to slide by, a member only hurts himself and those around him. We currently use OmegaFi to organize and send out our bills; you will sign up with them after associating with us. There will be a due date assigned to you, as per an agreement between the High Tau and OmegaFi, as stated on the bill. If, after 30 days, a member’s dues have not been paid and a payment plan has not been agreed to, that member will be put on suspension encompassing social events, meetings, voting privileges etc. If, after 60 days, a member’s dues have not been paid and a payment plan has not been agreed to, that member will be expelled from the fraternity and sent to a collection agency provided by OmegaFi. Similar penalties can and will be assigned to those who do not adhere to a payment plan as agreed upon by the High Tau and that member.

Where do fraternity dues go?

Fraternity dues go towards many areas that pertain to the operations of the active chapter including, but not limited to, philanthropy, house improvements, educational programming, and social events. Dues are NOT used to fund purchases of alcohol of any kind, as per IFC, NIC, and Lambda Chi Alpha national standards.

WHAT THE CHAPTER OWES:

Lambda Chi Alpha Headquarters charges the local chapter $60 per man, a harm reduction fee starting at $125 per man for insurance (which can be lowered based upon proper harm reduction programming by the chapter; we are currently at $65 per man), and a flat Base Chapter Fee of $800. We are also charged $15 per man by the local Interfraternity Council.

WHAT OUR MEMBERS PAY:

            Associate (New) Member Dues: $400/Semester

            Active Member Dues: $375/Semester

DISCOUNTS:

Phi-Alpha Zeta offers monetary discounts towards the next semesters, subject to the High Zeta’s discretion, for displaying success or dedication towards collegiate life. We currently offer dues deductions in the following ways:

Academic

$10 deduction for achieving a 3.5 or higher semester GPA

Athletic

$5 deduction for being named an intramural champion in a team or individual sport while representing Lambda Chi Alpha

Ritualistic

$5 deduction for participating as part of the Ritual Team

Community Service

$10 deduction for documented proof of 10 hours of community service; further $5 deduction for each 10 hour increment documented after per semester. Max $20 off dues.

Attendance

$5 deduction for having perfect attendance at all chapter meetings held throughout the semester, as per records kept by the High Gamma

CHAPTER LOTTERY:

If a member has paid his semester dues, INCLUDING any previous debts to the fraternity by the first chapter meeting of the semester, his name is eligible to be drawn in a lottery to receive all or a portion of $350 or one person’s worth of active dues, whichever is lower, as organized by the High Tau. There may be one large winner ($350), or several smaller winners ($50 x 7, etc) as determined by the High Tau.
